At Energy Wise Lighting, Inc., we believe in producing high quality lighting fixtures that are designed to maximize efficiency and light output. Top-of-the-line components are used in all our fixtures to ensure long-lasting reliablity and performance. We are proud to produce one of the brightest and most reliable T5 HO fixtures available.

Component Quality and Design:

From our experience in producing more than 50,000 T5 HO fixtures, we know which components work best. However, fixture design plays the most critical role in maximizing efficiency and light output. Here are a few things to look for when purchasing T5 HO fixtures:

       1. 95% mirrored aluminum reflector that is at least 15" wide for a            4-lamp  fixture. Reflector should have several bends per lamp.

       2. Name brand ballast and lamps.

       3. A properly engineered fixture makes the biggest difference in overall            efficiency and light ouput.

Comparison of High vs. Low Quality Fixtures:

The graph below illustrates the vast differences in light ouput between high and low quality T5 fixtures. When compared side-by-side, the Energy Wise 3-lamp T5 HO fixture puts out around the same amount of light as a competitor's 4-lamp T5 HO fixture, but uses 25% less energy. If you compare their 4-lamp fixture to the Energy Wise 4-lamp fixture, the Energy Wise model is 38% brighter.

So what are the cost advantages of using the Energy Wise 3-lamp T5 HO fixture compared to a lower quality 4-lamp T5 HO fixture?

As the graph ilustrates below, over a five year period (50 fixtures, 90hrs/wk, $.08KWH) you'll save close to $3,700 in electricity. Plus at the end of lamp's life, you'll only have three lamps to replace instead of four.

Enclosed vs. Open Fixtures:

We make both open and enclosed T5 fixture models. However, there is a big difference between the two and each have specific uses.

Enclosed Fixture Uses:

       1. Dusty/dirty Areas: enclosed fixtures are designed to keep dust/debris out of the fixture and prevent it from collecting on the bulbs and reflector, which will greatly reduce the light output over time. Unlike HID fixtures, T5 fixture don't produce enough heat to keep the dust and debris off the bulbs on their own.

       2. Food Production Areas: enclosed fixtures are great for areas where food is being processed of stored, because they ensure that if a bulb breaks it will stay contained in the fixture and won't contaminate the food product. This also eliminates the need for coated lamps, which are much more expensive than standard T5 HO lamps.

      3. Cooler Areas (below 60F): in areas where cooler temperatures are the norm (below 60F) and occupancy sensors are going to be used, enclosed fixtures allow the bulbs to reach full brightness faster.

Open Fixtures Uses:

       1. Clean Areas: if you have an area that is clean and has a low amount of dust/debris, open fixtures are a good option.

2.Warmer Temperatures (60F+): in warmer areas open fixtures work great and come up to brightness quickly.

Wire Guards on Sport Fixtures:

When we first started making our Premim Enclosed T5 HO Sport Fixture, we designed a large metal cage to go around each fixture. After installing our fixtures in several gymnasiums, we realized that the cage was unecessary. Our fixture has a durable design with a sensor guard and an acrylic lens that protects the lamps from flying objects. Since its conception, over 4,000 of our Premium T5 HO Sport Fixtures have been installed everywhere from college to elementary school gymnasiums with great results.
